The following
poem was inspired and written mostly by Macy Kirby, my little 8 year old
granddaughter. These were her thoughts about her Grandpa Dick that
passed away. The ideas, words and feelings were entirely hers.

I
never saw my Papaw, for he died before I came
But
I know all about him, I even know his name.
Daddy
loved him so, and told me all about him,
And
when he shows me pictures, Daddy always has a grin.
I
know that Papaw loves me, and my brother too,
You
see, I know this, 'cause Jesus told me so.
Sometimes
I think I see him, when I close my eyes so tight
I'm
sure that he must be, the brightest star we see at night.
Sometimes
when I feel troubled, he's right there by my side
I
know he's looking down at me, with a heart full of pride.

He
was very special; Mamaw says he's always near,
But
when she talks about him, I always see a tear.
I
ask God to bless him, when I say my prayers at night
To
watch and care for him, even though he's out of sight.
Someday
I know he'll hold me, when I'm in heaven up above,
But
for now I'll just look to the sky, and smile to him with love.
